For Research Use OnlyMOTS-C
MOTS-c is a sixteen-residue peptide encoded within mitochondrial DNA, a genome long held to encode only a small fixed set of components; the identification of short reading frames yielding functional peptides is a recent revision to that understanding. At sixteen residues there are fifteen coupling steps, so deletion sequences are the dominant manufacturing risk and they sit close to the intended product in both mass and retention time. Read the chromatographic trace rather than the headline purity figure, and treat peaks adjacent to the main peak as the finding of interest. Most published work remains preclinical and the class is roughly a decade old. Research use only.
